Cup Branding for Century-old Photography Brand, G.K Vale

Print Photos in the Digital Age

Do people still print photos? Why print photos? Is it the death of prints?

These are some of the recommended search terms that popped up while I was doing my research for this topic.

As a society, we produce more photographs than ever before. With billions of humans armed with smartphones, it’s becoming even more difficult to fathom the number of photographs we take on a day-to-day basis.

While most of them are shared on social media, some of them are simply forgotten. Though you may stumble upon a few good pictures while scrolling through your camera roll, seldom do they make any transition to the physical world.

We may no longer print every photo by default, but don’t you agree that printing gives life to your pictures. The thought of having a picture with your loved one mounted on a wall or enclosed within a frame on your desk surely evokes a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Though the photo printing studio industry maybe dwindling at the moment, there are certain companies that have not budged an inch despite the digital influx and have succeeded in maintaining a definite client base.

Photo studios such as Kodak, Photo Flash, G.K. Vale and Adlabs are constantly rethinking their advertising strategy to attract people bitten by the digital bug. These brands are taking on digital as well as offline mediums to establish their dominance.

Photography is one such industry that will never run out of business. Owing to its massive mass appeal, people from all walks of life will at some point or the other require the services of a professional photographer.

Cup Branding Campaign for G.K Vale

Almost a household name in Bangalore, GingerCup recently had the privilege to execute a brand activation cup branding campaign for the century-old legacy brand, G.K Vale.

Revered to be the one-stop solution for all photography needs, the brand has emerged successful through generations and witnessed some great numbers – 110 years, 50+ studios and 11 multi-brand camera stores.

While they have resorted to newspaper ads and flyers in the past, this time around, they wanted to do something different.

Having found the medium exciting and unique, CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Anand Sukumar decided to promote the brand’s photo studio in Kalyan Nagar and Manyata Tech Park through coffee cup branding.

After gaining a thorough understanding on their services, we zeroed down on their target group.

GingerCup decided to distribute branded paper cups in corporate offices in north Bangalore. Our main touch points included IT Parks in Hebbal, Banaswadi, Kalyan Nagar and HRBR Layout.

The mini billboard in the form of a paper cup featured the brand’s logo and tagline along with a mention of few of their services including high definition photo shoots, family portraits, photo gifts, home décor products, and so on.

Owing to the myriad of services G.K Vale offers, our team felt corporate employees would be the perfect fit. Most working professionals are in that phase of their life where they would require the services of a photographer. Be it pre-wedding shoots, wedding photography, baby photography or maternity shoots, no other target group would be able to resonate with the brand’s offering better than them.

Besides getting people to talk good things about this age-old photography brand, the overall campaign was a great success.

We even ran a campaign on our GingerCup Facebook Page, asking people to share their favourite G.K Vale memory. We received endearing stories indeed:
